Birmingham LINk partners with hospital to promote patient groups
The Birmingham Local Involvement Network (LINk) has partnered with the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust to raise awareness of patient support groups at an exciting event on Thursday 10 March at the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Atrium. Working together aims to empower patients and give them the tools to get the support that they need. The event starts at 10am and finishes at 3pm.
This event also promotes the University Hospitals Birmingham Action Group (UHBAG), formed by volunteers who want to make a difference in the way that health services are commissioned and provided by the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
Members of the group have been involved in various activities with the new hospital, from taking parts in meetings and having a say on projects to having an input in the contract for patient transport services.
Community Outreach Officer George Kingsley believes this event will offer LINk the opportunity to engage with patients, staff and visitors alike to give them a better understanding of the type of support they can receive from Support Groups. It will also support UHBAG in finding members of the public who would be interested in joining the group.
Birmingham LINk has a number of Action Groups, of which UHBAG is part. Anyone is welcome to join a group and the level of involvement depends entirely on how much time individuals are willing to support the LINk on a voluntary basis.
